In the October 28, 2007 service we sang Mozart’s exquisite “Laudate Dominum” (from Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, KV339, for those of you who keep track of such things.) It was one of those things that just came together. I’ve been looking for an opportunity to use COS member Stacy VandenBerge’s considerable talents. I thought “Laudate Dominum” might be the ticket, but I needed a bassoon to realize Mozart’s original scoring. Then one Sunday a bassoonist introduced herself and let me know she was available to play. Yes, it was kind of cruel to have a dozen voice choir and string quartet take the role of full choir and orchestra, but I think they did admirably. Take a listen to the MP3.
